Kid's Library Programs: September - December

Regular Programming

Baby Story Time

Saturdays: 10:30-11:00am  9/19, 10/3, 10/17, 11/14 Click here to register

Baby Story Time supports early literacy and language skills by encouraging singing, playing, talking, and shared reading. Join us for fun stories, fingerplays, and snuggling in a welcoming environment! Caregivers stay with children. Ages 0-18 months. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card. Program is geared toward babies, but siblings are welcome.

Toddler Story Time

Tuesdays: 10:30-11:00am  9/8, 9/22, 10/6, 10/20, 11/3, 12/1 Click here to register

Toddler Story Time encourages early literacy, and helps develop language skills and social skills through the use of simple books, fun fingerplays, and action rhymes. Children learn the joy of choosing a book and shared reading. Caregivers stay with children. Ages 18 months - 3 years.  Register here with Sugar Grove Public Library District card. Program is geared toward toddlers, but siblings are welcome.

Preschool Story Time

Tuesdays: 10:30-11:10am  9/15, 9/29, 10/13, 10/27, 11/10,  12/8 Click here to register

We read stories, do fun fingerplays, sing songs, play letter-recognition games, make crafts and more. Join us for a fun time and develop literacy, language, and social skills as well as positive associations with reading and the library.  Caregivers must stay in library. Ages 3 - 5 years. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card.

Now Monthly! Read to Rover

Second Saturday of every month: 11:00am-12:00pm  9/12, 10/10, 11/14, 12/12 Click here to register

Spend some time practicing your reading with friendly dogs from Fox Valley Therapy Dogs. Children able to read on their own can read their favorite stories to dogs who love to listen! Grades 1-6 or able to read on their own. Register Online - no library card needed.

Lego Club: K-1

Mondays: 4:30-5:30pm 9/21, 10/19, 11/16, 12/14 Click here to register

Lego activities include building, games & more. Lego materials will be provided. Creations will be displayed in the library. Caregiver must stay in library. Grades K-1. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card.

Meet Book Character: Arthur

Saturday, September 12: 1:00 pm Click here to register

Meet Arthur, listen to stories, and join in on fun activities. Bring your cameras for this great photo op! Children must be accompanied by an adult. All ages. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card.

School’s Out: Columbus Day

Monday, October 12: 11:00am-3:00pm

School’s out for the day, but don’t stay at home and be bored! Come on in to the library and make a fort with the Toydle Fort Building Kit, watch a movie in the Story Time Room, and try out one of our many games. Drop in. No registration required.

Sew a Treat!

Wednesday, October 14: 4:30-6:00pm Click here to register

Join Ellen Violet of Ellen Violet Designs and make a treat bag you can use when you go trick or treating. Sewing machines will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. Grades 3-5. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card.

Halloween Celebration

Saturday, October 31

All day: Count the candies in the jar for a chance to win the jar!

10:30-11:00am Halloween Story Time: The fun will include stories, flannel board activities, rhymes, and movement.

11:00am-2:00pm Crafts in the Story Time Room. Drop in to try your hands at some crafts—all supplies provided.

11:00am-3:00pm Trick or Treating in the Library. Come dressed in your Halloween costume and collect some treats!

2:30 - 3:30pm Incredible Bats: Daniel and Sharon Peterson will bring their Egyptian Fruit Bats and African Straw-colored Fruit Bats for a fun and educational program on these wonderful flying mammals. All ages. Drop in. No registration required.

Family Reading Day

Saturday, November 21

Instead of celebrating Family Reading Night, we are celebrating Family Reading Day! Bring in your parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents and celebrate the joy and excitement of reading together!

All Day: Get Caught Reading

Read together as a family at the library and be entered for a prize!

10:30-11:30am: Read with Ronald McDonald Click here to register

Come see a wonderful and funny show featuring Ronald McDonald and his hilarious jokes, mind-blowing magic tricks and wildly entertaining stories!

All ages. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District Card.

11:00am-2:00pm: Show your library card at the Youth Reference Desk for a prize.

Remember, children ages 5 and up can have their own library card!

11:00am-2:00pm: Crafty Saturday

Drop by the Story Time Room for some fun and creative reading-related crafts!

Star Wars Day

Monday, November 23

Kick off your Thanksgiving break by celebrating the upcoming release of the newest Star Wars movie! Feel free to bring props or come in costume!

Crafts in the Story Time Room

Tie-Dye Tuesday

Tuesday, November 24: 1:00-2:00pm Click here to register

Bring your own 100% cotton t-shirt and tie-dye it with markers and rubbing alcohol! Grades K-5. Register with a Sugar Grove Public Library Card.

Holiday in the Grove

Saturday, December 5: all day

Winter Break

Winter Break activities include movies at 1:00pm, crafts in the Story Time Room and the Toydle. Drop in. No registration required.

New Year’s Eve Carnival
