Regular Programming

Drop-In Baby Story Time

Mondays: 10:30-11:00am  ­­­­­­9/19, 10/3, 10/17, 10/31, 11/14, 12/12

Baby Story Time supports early literacy and language skills by encouraging singing, playing, talking, and shared reading. Join us for fun stories, fingerplays, and snuggling in a welcoming environment! Caregivers stay with children. Ages 0-18 months. Drop in. No registration required. Program is geared toward babies, but siblings are welcome.

Toddler Story Time

Tuesdays: 10:30-11:00am  ­9/20, 10/4, 10/18, 11/1, 11/15, 12/13 Click here to register

Toddler Story Time encourages early literacy, and helps develop language skills and social skills through the use of simple books, fun fingerplays, and action rhymes. Children learn the joy of choosing a book and shared reading. Caregivers stay with children. Ages 18 months - 3 years.  Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card. Program is geared toward toddlers, but siblings are welcome.

Preschool Story Time

Tuesdays: 10:30-11:10am  9/13, 9/27, 10/11, 10/25, 11/8, 12/6 Click here to register

We read stories, do fun fingerplays, sing songs, play letter-recognition games, make crafts and more. Join us for a fun time and develop literacy, language, and social skills as well as positive associations with reading and the library.  Caregivers must stay in library. Ages 3 - 5 years. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card.

Read to Rover

Spend some time practicing your reading with friendly dogs from Fox Valley Therapy Dogs. Children who are able to read on their own can read their favorite stories to dogs who love to listen!

Special event: 10/8 10:00-11:00am Read to Rover

11:00am-11:40am Local Author Talk with Amy Chally & Yazzen

 

Join us as Amy Chally, a local author, and her service dog, Yazzen, discusses her new book, "Making Independence Happen, One Paw at a Time." A copy will be available to check out. Grades 1-6 or able to read on their own. Register online - no library card needed. A separate registration is required each month.

*NEW* Minecraft Club

Wednesdays: 4:30-5:30pm  9/14, 10/12, 11/9 Click here to view calendar and register for each month

Play Minecraft with your friends and complete fun challenges. We’ll have 4 computers available with Minecraft Educational Edition, Minecraft on a gaming system, and Minecraft Pocket Edition. Grades 3-5. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card. A separate registration is required each month.

Space is limited to 12 kids per month. No exceptions.

Pokémon Club

Wednesdays: 4:30-5:30pm  9/7, 10/5, 11/2, 12/7 Click here to register

Play the game, trade cards and do crafts.  Bring your Nintendo, DS, or 3DS if you would like to play with another friend in the club. Grades K-6. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card.

Lego Club

Curiosity Club

This fun monthly program includes books, crafts, and activities geared toward curious kids in K-2nd grade. Join us as we explore a new and interesting topic each month. Grades K-2. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card. A separate registration is required each month.

This exciting monthly club includes activities specific to each month’s title. Read each book in advance and come discuss it with other kids your age while sampling delicious cookies. Grades 3-5. Pick up a copy of the book at the Youth Reference Desk OR download a digital copy from OverDrive or eReadIllinois, available at sgpl.org.

Lifesize Minecraft

Avast! Arrr ye ready for a swashbuckling good time? Join us at the library as we celebrate “International Talk Like a Pirate Day,” which was September 19th! We’ll have games, crafts, and more! Grades K-5. Register with Sugar Grove Public Library District card or walk the plank!

 

School’s Out: Columbus Day

Monday, October 10: 11:00am-3:00pm

School’s out for the day, but don’t stay at home and be bored! Come to the library and make a fort with the Toydle Fort Building Kit, watch a movie in the Story Time Room at 1:00pm, and try out one of our many games in the Youth Lounge. Drop in. No registration required.

Halloween Spooktacular

Saturday, October 29

Drop in activities include:

All day: Guess the candies in the jar for a chance to win!

10:30-11:00 Halloween Story Time with Amy Peters: featuring stories, flannel board activities, rhymes, movement, and songs!

11:00-3:00 Trick or Treating in the Library: come dressed in your Halloween costume and collect some treats!

11:00-2:00 Drop-in crafts in the Story Time Room

2:00-3:00 Screech Owl Presentation: Fox Valley Wildlife Center!

*3:00-3:30 Investigate owl pellets and learn more about their lives and diets! Click here to register

Registration required with Sugar Grove Public Library District card for the pellets program. Space is limited for this exciting investigation into owl pellets.

Family Reading Day
