Library Director

Sugar Grove Public Library District seeks an energetic and creative leader to serve a community of 15,500 in the Fox Valley. The successful candidate must have administrative or supervisory experience, with verifiable leadership, team building and fiscal management skills. The Director will oversee the daily operations and supervise a staff of fourteen (5.5FTE), including the Director, with an annual budget of $615,000. The 25,500 sq. ft. facility opened in 2009. MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution and five years of progressively responsible library experience. Salary starts at $50,000. Sugar Grove Public Library District is not an IMRF institution.

Youth Services Library Assistant

Sugar Grove Public Library District seeks an energetic, creative, and highly reliable person who naturally connects with children of all ages and their families. The person in this 20-hour position will plan, promote, and deliver programs; participate in collection development; and collaborate with other staff members to promote library services and collections and assist in creating a positive environment. Day, evening, and weekend hours required, including Sundays from 2-6pm. Must have reliable transportation for occasional travel to offsite work locations. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent college coursework plus one or more years of experience working with children required. Library students encouraged to apply. Starts at $12.50/hour.

New Research Resources From EBSCOhost

Sugar Grove Public Library District is proud to offer these tools to help you with consumer information, homework support, favorite authors and series, and more. You can use these resources when visiting the library or from anywhere using your library card and a computer or mobile device! Click on the resource name to get started. Plenty of help is available at the home page of each resource.

MasterFILE Premier MasterFILE Premier contains full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues and much more. This database also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and over 164,400 primary source documents, as well as an Image Collection of over 502,000 photos, maps & flags. MasterFILE Premier offers PDF backfiles (as far back as 1975) for key publications including American Libraries, Foreign Affairs, History Today, Judaism, Library Journal, National Review, Saturday Evening Post, etc. Consumer Reports (CR) is an expert, independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers and to empower consumers to protect themselves.

NoveList K-8 Plus NoveList K-8 Plus is a great online resource for helping teachers, school media specialists, children’s librarians and kids find that next great fiction or nonfiction read supporting both the curriculum and kids’ pleasure reading. Created especially for kids (and the adults who work with them), it has a colorful, graphic-rich homepage and is very easy to use.

NoveList Plus NoveList Plus is a comprehensive readers' advisory resource where you can find titles, articles, and lists for your fiction and nonfiction needs. With its intuitive interface and extensive proprietary content, NoveList Plus will help you to answer the question of what to read next.

Science Reference Center Science Reference Center is a comprehensive research database that provides easy access to a multitude of full text science-oriented content. This database contains full text for nearly 640 science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, etc. Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science, environmental science, health & medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science & society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.

Kids Search The Kids Search interface offers kindergarten through grade school students an age-appropriate, easy-to-use interface, with an emphasis on searching by topic, such as geography, arts & music, health, or sports.

Student Research Center The Student Research Center was developed to offer middle and high school students an easy-to-use, graphically appealing interface, which highlights content such as biographies, maps, and encyclopedias.

The Sugar Grove Public Library District 2013 Schedule

Effective January 2, 2013

  • Monday-Thursday - 10am-8pm
  • Friday - Closed
  • Saturday - 10am-4pm
  • Sunday - 2pm-6pm

Thank you to all who participated in the Hours of Operation Survey. Your input helped us decide how to allocate additional hours to our schedule. We heard you and wish we could be open every day and for longer hours each day. We hope that this schedule will enable more people to visit and use the library. We welcome your feedback and look forward to serving you in the coming year.

Enjoy eBooks & eAudio with the all-new OverDrive Media Console App v3.0!

Reading eBooks from our digital library, eMediaLibrary, is now easier than ever. The app to enjoy digital titles on your mobile device, OverDrive Media Console (OMC), has been completely redesigned with ease of use top of mind. A new version of the app will be available on August 20. Some highlighted features include:

• A redesigned user interface with an all-new look, streamlined navigation, and a one-stop reorganized menu.
• Sync bookmarks and reading progress across multiple devices using a free, opt-in registration service called OverDrive One.
• Variable speed playback for iOS. Audiobook users’ most requested feature.

System Requirements: OMC v3.0 for Android users requires Android OS v4.0 (or newer). OMC for Android v2.6.5 will remain available for download. OMC for iOS requires iOS 6 (or newer).
